The Alfa Italia Detangling Hair Brush That's Become A Staple Beauty Item

There are certain beauty tools that, although aren't necessarily the most glamourous thing to discuss, are essential to our everyday routines. Whether that be an amazing toothbrush, the blending tool you can't live without or the hair brush that leaves your hair feeling amazing, there are some things that are just worth mentioning. What's great about this Alfa Italia brush is not only is it practical and seamlessly been integrated into my beauty routine but it looks gorgeous too. My photos don't really do it, or the colour, justice (the reflective coating is so tricky to capture without my gormless face being shown staring back!), but the rose gold de-tangling brush is just such a fab alternative to the Tangle Teezer that everybody knows and loves.

Blend Better! Pamper Therapy's Innovative Beauty Sponge That Rivals The Classics

You only have to watch a few beauty tutorials online to find that most make-up fanatics out there use the infamous Beauty Blender to create their flawless looks. Make-up sponges are nothing new, being used throughout history to help women perfect their foundation. The twentieth-century, particularly the 1930s onwards, saw the use of small triangular makeup sponges to help apply makeup, and the little sponges have been developing ever since. What was previously designed for one-time use (as per the bags of 20 sponges you could pick up in Boots) has evolved into a spectacular make-up applicator that has become far more technical than you would think. We are now familiar with little 'egg' or 'teardrop' shaped sponges that have been designed to perfectly buff our foundation, concealer and contour into our skin. Whilst many might stick with favourites from RealTechniques and the original Beauty Blender, Pamper Therapy have created a sponge which might rival both.

Are Blending Sponges Really The Best Thing In Beauty?

If you ever watch any beauty tutorials online, you'll notice that almost every guru uses the infamous beauty blender sponge to apply their foundation, concealer and contouring make-up. The little egg-shaped miracle tool is supposed to change the way you apply your base forever, with many beauty brands bringing out their own version of the cult product. Dampen with a bit of water to see the tool expand and simply blend in the roughly applied foundation using lots of small dabbing motions and you are supposedly left with the most flawless-looking skin known to man. While there sure is plenty of hype around the product and blending technique, is it really worth dabbling in this new form of make-up application?

Travalo: A Practical Essential For Holidays And Festivals

Having just survived a 10 day holiday with only hand luggage to rely on (I know, life is so tough for me), I know how annoying those airport liquid restrictions are. Especially for a beauty addict, weeks worth of meticulous planning goes into what can be squeezed into the 20cm X 20cm plastic bag; what will make the cut, and what luxuries will have to be sacrificed. If only I discovered Travalo a little earlier; having ditched my perfume in order to fit in sun cream (priorities, eh), I really could have done with one of these little bottles to slip into the liquids bag.

The Make-Up Brushes That Changed My Foundation Game

Make-up brushes are an essential in anyone's beauty regime. Apart from being far more hygienic than using your fingers, brushes make the application of foundation and concealer easier and provide you with a flawless finish. Having always used a flat foundation brush (the most common type), I have recently found that a larger brush with a flatter head can really help to buff that foundation into your skin. Flat foundation brushes can often leave you with a streaky finish, as the bristles drag the formula around your face. These two brushes, from RealTechniques and EcoTools, avoid this by working creamy or liquid formulas into the skin, creating a more natural, perfected look. Since using them, I have noticed a massive difference to my base make-up and would never go back to the bog-standard foundation brushes.

Glamour In A Case: Enrapture Extremely Heated Rollers

You may (or may not) have noticed a slight blogging absence from me over the past few weeks. After completing my dissertation and final university exam, I am finally free to start blogging again! WAHAY! To mark my return, I thought I'd show you a hair product that I've been loving at the moment. I hate having straight hair, either tying it back or curling it depending on the occasion and how I feel. While I usually use this Remington curling wand, it mainly creates natural-looking loose waves rather than curls with that extra oomph. These Enrapture heated rollers fill that hair gap, providing a glamourous look with minimal effort.

All About That Base: Real Techniques Core Collection Brushes

We're often told within the world of beauty that your skincare and base is the most important part of your makeup routine. Without these, you have nothing to build upon. Having a perfect base enables you to craft your look however you want, whether it be adding depth through highlighting, or creating definition through contouring. I'm a big fan of using brushes to create this flawless base; after using a foundation brush for a couple of years I would never go back to applying with my fingers or a sponge. I'm also a big believer in investing in good quality brushes to ensure your base makeup is the best it can be, and these Real Techniques brushes are a fantastic collection to get you started.

Tweezerman: Overpriced Or Revolutionary?

You might be able to tell that the last few posts have been influenced quite a lot by what beauty products my mum has been loving at the moment. Taking a short break from university, I spent a few days at home last week and did a lot of catching up with my mum- including an evening dedicated to talking beauty and playing with makeup. One new product to her beauty hoard is a snazzy pair of Tweezerman tweezers. I asked a while back (on her behalf- I avoid tweezers due to trichotillomania) what the best tweezers out there were. I was greeted with a unanimous 'tweezerman' by the beauty blogging community. So, here they are!
