MUA Undress Me Too

This marvellous little palette which I found in Superdrug a while back is a wonderful mix of neutral shades. With some matte and some packed full of shimmer, these eye shadows are pretty much the perfect shades for both daytime and night wear.

Coffee and Walnut Layer Cake

Unfortunately the hectic university schedule has meant that I haven't been able to blog for a while, but when I popped home last weekend I managed to fit in a spot of baking. My grandad has been a bit under the weather recently so I thought I'd make him his favourite cake; coffee and walnut. However, instead of making the traditional type where everything is mixed into the same layer, I thought I'd separate the cake into three different layers of coffee, walnut and vanilla. As a result, when you cut through the cake you can see the defined layers in each slice, with each layer sandwiched with coffee buttercream.

Lemon & Poppy Seed Cupcakes

At the moment, as you might be able to tell, I'm trying to get creative and concoct some of my own cake recipes. After compiling a long list of random ideas, I made these lemon and poppy seed cupcakes. In this recipe, I used quite a lot of poppy seeds, but if you wanted to tone it down a bit anything from 25g to 50g would be fine. The recipe makes about 12 cupcakes.

Coconut & White Chocolate Cupcakes

I made these white chocolate and coconut cupcakes the other day as part of my continuing recipe experimentation. I didn't think they would be but these cakes are really sickly...maybe I put too much chocolate in them! The recipe makes 12 cupcakes.

Skin Art: Birds and Clouds

Noticing that I had some Skin Art nail stickers left over, I thought I'd create this look. They make for a fab nail accessory and they actually lasted a lot longer than I expected.

Lemon & Raspberry Cupcakes

Ever since I was little it's been a family tradition to go strawberry and raspberry picking. Each summer, as soon as the strawberries come into season, my nan and I take a trip to a local 'pick your own' farm and fill countless punnets with fresh strawberries and raspberries.

Champagne Afternoon Tea: Stoke Place

One of my 19th birthday presents this year was a voucher for champagne afternoon tea at Stoke Place (Bucks) from my nan. The country house has beautiful grounds, so I waited until this summer to use the voucher in hope of sunshine and a lovely post-tea walk.

Marshmallow Cupcakes

Cakes make great presents to give; whether it's saying thank-you or for someone's birthday they always go appreciated. They're a bit different from the generic bar of chocolate, can be personalised and are fun to make. These gooey marshmallow cakes make the perfect little extra gift to give someone, and as the recipe makes 12 there's enough to keep some back for yourself...

GOSH Nail Glitter

I love nail gimmicks, so this little pot of nail glitter from GOSH is ideal. It's such an easy way to jazz up your nails; dip one of your nails into the pot while it's still wet and you've got a statement nail. This GOSH glitter is far more simple and far less fiddly than other types of nail art, such as flimsy nail stickers or tiny nail gems, making it the perfect accessory to your nails.

Stawberry Cheesecake Cupcakes

These little cupcakes are such a good idea if you have people over in the summer; they're sweet, indulgent but surprisingly light and fresh too. It's best to use fresh strawberries in the bottom of the case, then put the sponge mixture on top. The recipe makes about 12 cupcakes... plenty to go around!

Nail Art Gems

Alongside nail stickers, nail wraps and all the different effect nail varnishes now available within the nail art boom, there are nail gems. I always thought this was one of the more tackier versions of nail art, and quite look quite garish, but after trying them out I'm now a converted nail bling lover.

Marbled Cupcakes with Hazelnut Filling

For my one of my Dad's 50th birthday presents, I made him some fancy chocolate cupcakes. They are a chocoholic's idea of heaven, with the cake being a marbled mix of vanilla and chocolate sponge, with a gooey hazelnut chocolate core and chocolate butter cream icing on the top. These are so soft and gooey, and I should warn, incredibly more-ish. The recipe makes about 12 cupcakes. Chocolate overload?

No7 Essential Moisture

Before now, I'd never really been a big fan of Boots No7 products, particularly their skin products, thinking that they were quite basic for the money you pay. Instead, I'd often turned to cheaper alternatives which would do exactly the same job.

My mum, however, swears by them, and even if she tries different moisturisers she always ends up returning to the No7 range. Seeing as she has enviously clear, wrinkle-free skin, I thought maybe I'd give No7 a go.

Gooey Chocolate Cake

For my brother's sweet 16th birthday this year I made this lovely, rich chocolate cake. I never normally make chocolate cakes as they usually turn out too dry, but recipe was quite moist. I tried putting around 75-100g of mini marshmallows into the mixture to make it even more sweet and gooey but I'm not sure it made that much of a difference to the cake.

Viva España!

Yesterday, after an hour long ride on a Spanish bus at 4am which played a select playlist of cheesy, top-volume Europop, then hopping on a plane, I landed back in Blighty. Three friends and I booked a cheap holiday to Palamos in Spain a couple of months ago as a celebration of finishing our first year at university. Using up our budget of £200 after some smooth haggling with a holiday company, the 2nd of July soon came about and we boarded a plane to sunny Spain.

Barry M: Touch of Magic

In the world of beauty, finding the perfect shade of lipstick to match your skin tone is quite a hassle. Whether it's too bright a pink or too dark a red, a lot of precious time and money is eaten away due to the trial and error of finding a colour that suits you.

SkinArt Nail Tattoos

Last week, I wrote about a new form of nail art that's hitting the market- nail stickers. The first I'd heard of them was through a brand called Skin Art, but I ended up buying Andrea Fulerton nail stickers; a cheaper brand albeit with less designs.

I managed to find some Skin Art nail tattoos in Boots when I popped back to Brighton earlier this week, and wondered how they would compare to the cheaper brand I'd previously tried. For £5.99, Skin Art offered a couple more designs; I preferred their designs to the Andrea Fulerton ones so thought I'd try them out.

Speedy Slimming Soup

The sun made it's first proper appearance of 2013 over the bank holiday weekend just gone, and while the 'heatwave' makes some people look forward to their summer holiday plans, others dread the thought of getting into that unforgiving beachwear. Like the Slimming World brownies recipe, I'd also recommend this recipe for super-speedy Slimming World soup.

Nail Tattoos

Nail art is fast becoming a popular part of women's beauty regimes, with brands like Models Own, Barry M and Revlon bringing out their own nail art pens allowing you to draw on your own patterns, pictures and designs. These are great if you so happen to be talented in the subject of art, or blessed with creativity and a steady hand. However, many, much like myself, aren't.

Ideal Home Show

Last month, my mum and I managed to get hold of some free tickets to the Ideal Home Show in Earls Court. I thought it would be full of middle-to-old-aged women cooing over sofas but I was so wrong. Yes, OK, some parts were a little bit like that, but it was such a big exhibition there was definitely something to be found to suit everyone's interests.

Bannatyne's Spa Weekend

This weekend just gone, I took my mum away to Birmingham for a well-deserved pamper break. For Christmas, I had bought her a 2-for-1 voucher for any Bannatyne's Health Club from offer website 'treatme.net'. For £75, you and whoever you choose to take gets full access to all of the spa's facilities, along with a 40 minute treatment; either a facial and scalp massage, or back, neck and shoulder massage and a scalp massage.

Afternoon Tea at Stanmer House

In our house, our weekends are largely dominated by reading and essays, so in a bid to liven them up/ actually do something with our time off we sat down and compiled a 'things to do in Brighton' list. Our aim is to choose something off the list each weekend and hopefully prevent our weekends from blurring into one.

Clothes Swish for Target TB

On Wednesday evening, a couple of friends and myself headed down to the Queen's Hotel on the seafront in my current hometown Brighton. I was told that the charity Target TB were holding a clothes swish fund-raising event there. I had never heard of a clothes swish before, so for those who had as little a clue as me, it basically works like this: you take some of your unwanted clothes, hand them in when you get there, they lay them all out on the table, and you pick up whatever takes your fancy. A kind-of mix between a clothes-swapping event and a jumble sale.

Although you had to bring a minimum of one item, for obvious reasons, many people used this as an opportunity to have a good clear-out and brought along bags-full of unwanted items. Taking along a few tops, I ended up taking away shoes for my mum, and another pair of shoes and a dress for my nan.

Bargain At bareMinerals

As if we haven't all spent enough in the ever-lasting Christmas sales, this little bargain gives you another excuse to get your purse out. There are some serious bareMinerals reductions over on www.feelunique.com, so if you're in need of some new make-up or just want to try a new brand I suggest you take advantage of the offer.

It's A Wrap

Last summer I tried out some Primark nail wraps, and although I wasn't overly impressed with the designs, the quality was surprisingly OK for a £1 spend. Being busy over the holidays and throughout New Years, I didn't have time to sit down and properly do my nails, so I thought I'd try out some more nail wraps.

Slimming World Brownies

It's that time of the year when everyone's full of too much turkey, wine and chocolates, and attention turns from Christmas to the New Year. And once again it's time to make those New Years resolutions, whether it's to stop smoking, fulfil a lifelong dream or to lose a bit of weight. The diet industry unsurprisingly booms at this time of year, with slimming gurus keen to take advantage of those New Year desires to become healthier or just get slim ready for the summer holidays.
