It's not often that I get super excited about discovering a new lipstick. With so many new launches out there reaching the beauty shelves seemingly every week, it's easy for lip products to get lost amongst the rest. What's even more exciting, is that these new favourite bullets of colour also come from a new brand discovery. I had never heard of Arbonne before being sent these products, but I have been so impressed by their lipsticks and primer that they have become a staple of my beauty routine; quite a feat considering the size of my makeup collection!
While it's not usually something I look out for in a brand, many of you will be pleased to hear that Arbonne are vegan. Their ethos is all about using pure and safe products, claiming to use only "botanically based ingredients" in all their products. While this is rather vague (show me a product where the ingredients aren't derived from a plant in some way or another), Arbonne really project themselves as a green-loving, high-end vegan brand. By avoiding animal products and by-products and chemicals found in many other cosmetics which have been proven to be potentially harmful, such as phthelates, mineral oils and parabens, Arbonne are opening themselves up to a whole new beauty audience.
This new approach to formulating cosmetics has by no means had a detrimental effect on the products themselves. These 'smoothed over' lipsticks are by far some of the best quality ones I own (and trust me, I own A LOT). There is a gorgeous range of colours to choose from, and the soft texture glides onto lips beautifully. Your lips are left without any hint of a drying or cakey feel, but are instead smothered in a silky softness and pop of bold colour. I cannot emphasise enough how much I love these; they truly are a delight to wear. My personal favourite is this gorgeous berry tone, 'Flora', which just exudes sophistication and glamour.
Alongside these delicious lip products, I was sent their infamous primer to try out. I've recently been having a bit of a turbulent relationship with primers, with many of the matte formulas leaving my skin feeling dried out and disrupting the application of my foundation. While this primer holds a very similar texture to these others (such as Maybelline's Baby Skin primer), there is something about it which just doesn't leave my skin feeling dry. It sits beautifully on my skin, smoothing out my complexion ready for foundation and evening out the texture of my skin. The silky formula feels incredibly expensive and luxurious, making you feel and look great at the same time.
Out of all the beauty products Arbonne have to offer, if you were to indulge yourself, the lipsticks and primer are the two products I would recommend you invest your money in. Not only are they vegan and avoid harmful chemicals, but these are two jolly fabulous products! These aren't cheap, with the lipstick setting you back £20 and the primer £27, but if you're green-minded and conscious about what you are putting on your skin, this is a brand which delivers great quality, sleek-looking products. The brand works via network marketing, using reps (much like Avon). I was lucky enough to be sent these products by Adam Braham; you can browse the products (and treat yourself to some) HERE.
I have already expressed my adoration for these two products, but I would love for you to see for yourselves. SO, *drum roll*, Adam and I will be giving away a bottle of this wonder-primer and a 'smoothed over' lipstick of your choice to try out!
