Miners Cosmetics: The £2.50 Lipsticks That Really Deliver

It's finally looking like Spring! This means that the deep berry hues we've been wearing on our lips can be replaced with beautifully bright corals, reds and pinks to celebrate the emergence of the sun. Bringing out the bold colours within make-up symbolises the start of Spring/Summer for me...sounds like a perfect excuse to go shopping for new lipsticks! I'd never really heard of Miners' cosmetics range, let alone tried anything, before I was sent these two lipsticks as part of my 'Share The Beauty' collaboration a couple of months ago. Yet again, I assumed cheap price equals cheap quality and was proved absolutely wrong by these two lipsticks.

bargain miners lipstick review matte and moisture effect

Miners have 3 main lipstick collections; colour focused, moisture and matte. I received a moisture and matte one to try, and am totally in love with both. While the packaging is a bit bland and cheap-looking, what's inside the casing is a glorious punch of colour that has real longevity.

At first glance, the moisture effect lippy (shade 'Kiss Me Quick') looks as though it might actually be quite drying on your lips. However, it applies smoothly and has a lovely buttery texture which nourishes your lips without detracting from the intensity of the colour, which I find many other high-street lipsticks do not achieve. The colour is a bright coral that is just divine, and definitely a shade that can see you through to summer (it would look incredible against a tan). My only quip with this is that the nourishing texture does not last very long on your lips; it isn't drying but you can notice the absence of this moisture that's supposed to set the product apart.

The matte effect lipstick actually has exactly the same consistency as the moisture effect one. I cannot tell any difference between them, except that after a while the matte starts to feel a tad chalkier. The matte effect itself is very subtle, compared to other matte lipsticks I've tried, but I personally prefer this. Having that little hint of moisture within the matte formula helps to prevent that horrible drying, cracked lip feeling that mattes often provide. In terms of colour, this shade ('Wonderland') is a classic bright red with coral undertones that would suit all skin tones.

There are only a few shades to choose from within these collections, which is such a shame. Nonetheless, they are surprisingly great quality for something that costs £2.49. My favourite thing about these lipsticks is the longevity; they require minimal touch-ups throughout the day (or night) yet still feel very light and comfortable to wear. A big thumbs up to Miners!
