Rimmel Apocalips

As I detailed in my Superdrug haul post, I've been eyeing up Rimmel's Apocalips range for quite some time now, but for some reason unknown to me, I just never snapped one up. The coveted collection is bursting with beautiful colours, from subtle nudes to vibrant pinks and daring reds. In the end, I bought myself Aurora; a gorgeous bold darkish pink with plenty of red undertones. I have to say, it was a tough decision between this, Stellar and Nova!

Firstly, how dazzling is this packaging? I love how the top has a diamond type cut; I think it adds a bit of personality and uniqueness to the product. You also get a sneak preview of the colour as the black packaging fades into the product shade. It's the small details like this which get me all excited about a product!

I know many, including my Dad, would say I don't need any more lipglosses or lipsticks to add to my ever increasing collection. While this is, of course, never true, Apocalips somehow seems different from all the others. It has a certain 'je ne sais quoi' which has fast made it my go-to lippy. It's not too much for everyday wear, yet is still perfectly bold for a night out and bringing an outfit together.

This little tube of wonderfulness is like a cross between a lipstick and a lipgloss, and I think this is what makes it stand out so much from all the other glosses out there. While it has the consistency and application of your average gloss, it has the pigmentation and staying power of your best lipstick. What more can a girl ask for?!

The applicator itself is a lovely heart-shaped wand which makes the product so easy to slick on. The gloss is not in the slightest sticky, but also isn't as drying as the matte Collection Cream Puff lip lacquers. Yet it still retains a perfect amount of shine to really bring out that glossy colour. As the colour is as bold as that of a lipstick, I use a red lipliner underneath this Apocalips shade just to make it last that little bit longer.

I am totally in love with this Rimmel lippy, and it's by far one of my best beauty buys in a long time. I can see it becoming an absolute staple in my summer beauty regime. It's got all those bright sunny shades that just ooze holidays and summer. These definitely lived up to the hype- I might even go back and treat myself to a few more shades!

Have you tried Rimmel Apocalips? Which shades do you love?
