It's not Christmas without a Soap & Glory gift set of some sort, is it? This post is a bit overdue, as my wonderful mum got me this S&G trio for Christmas. However, I've been so wrapped up in actually using the products that I totally forgot to rave about them on this site. I know, what kind of blogger am I?! I am already a huge fan of Soap and Glory products; I use their Archery brow pencil everyday, adore their Supercat eyeliner, and simply cannot resist indulging myself in their body butters during these colder months. When I opened this beautiful little gift set on Christmas morning I knew my mum had got me sussed. The elegant box, topped with a present-appropriate bow, contains three products I had never tried before- a gold Thick & Fast mascara, Love at First Blush and a Sexy Motherpucker Gloss Stick in a gorgeous berry colour. It's safe to say I am in love with all three.
Due to trichotillomania, I never really get the chance to trial mascaras (despite constantly optimistically buying every new launch). While I am lacking in the eyelash department now, back at Christmas I had a lovely set of eyelashes to test out Thick & Fast for the first time. The mascara wand doesn't look particularly special, but somehow it coats, separates and elongates lashes like a dream. I found it was quite a thin formula, and while it dries quickly enough, it was more difficult to layer up. As a result, this mascara cannot really give you oodles of length or dramatic dark colour, but it is perfect for everyday, day-time wear. Separating lashes and giving them just a subtle lick of colour is all you need for the 'your lashes but better' beauty look that is so effortless to wear during the day, making this a fab mascara for anyone looking for a natural product.
Let's move on to this little wheel of beauty...the Love at First Blush blusher. Can we just pause here a second to marvel and truly take in how stunning this product is?! Probably my favourite out of all three products, I have ditched my trusty Sleek palette in favour of this S&G wonder and have been wearing it every day since I received it. It is not massively pigmented, but this is not necessarily a negative thing. Less blending is required as the perfect amount of product is picked up from simply swirling your blush around the wheel. Love at First Blush has an impeccable mixture of highlighting shades, shimmery pinks and subtle bronzing shades to give an overall well-balanced, natural flush to your cheeks. Again, this isn't a heavy product, but can easily be layered up for a more evening-appropriate look.
Lastly, we have the Sexy Motherpucker Gloss Stick 3D Volume Lip Shine. I wasn't a fan of the Sexy Motherpucker lip glosses, finding them far to thick and sticky to wear, but these gloss sticks have proved that faith in the range isn't all lost. It's a great idea and a fab way to revive a range which left so many disappointed. These twist-up beauties are very much inspired by the Chubby Stick revolution which saw many brands bringing out their own chunky lip crayons. What's novel about this S&G one, however, is that it is more of a tint. Many lip crayons give you that full-on bold colour of a lipstick, so it's nice to have a more sheer option with this format. Small flecks of glitter throughout the product give the supposed '3D' effect, and the formula itself is still quite thick; what's new is that they've ditched the stickiness in favour of a more creamy, hydrating texture. It's easy to apply and creates a gorgeous natural sheen for the ultimate 'can't be bothered' lip look. While I think this beautiful wintery berry colour was exclusive to this gift set, the Gloss Sticks come in five other shades, from nude, pinks, and a rich purple-plum.
I'm so impressed with these products- usually in a gift set there's one or two things which are underwhelming, but I totally love all of these. I would definitely recommend all three; if you are someone who wears minimal make-up or prefers to keep things simple and subtle, these would be totally up your street!
Have you tried any of these products? What's your favourite Soap & Glory product?

ReplyDeleteI absolutely adore this mascara, it was the only one I used until I got Benefit's They're Real for Christmas. I also got the Love AT First Blush in the january sales, but I'm not quite sure how to use it!
