Hidden Gem: A Purse-Friendly Pamper At The Shed, Hove

When I saw a review of The Shed on Facebook, I instantly knew I had to book an appointment there. We all know the importance of taking some time out, but often spas and beauty treatments can be a bit on the pricey side. I might dream of having a lovely manicure, but my budget tells me to stay at home with a cup of tea and paint my nails myself. I had never heard of The Shed before stumbling across it online, but after a bit of research and seeing how amazing their prices were, I realised this could be a game-changer in my pamper-time. With treatments as cheap as £10, this little hidden gem is somewhere you MUST check out if you're in or around Brighton.

Whilst it may seem tucked out of the way in Hove, it's so easy to get to. Hop on either the 5, 5A or 5B bus and the stop 'Coleridge Street' will take you just a couple of minutes walk away. Plus, the location is actually quite nice in that it is removed from the hustle and bustle of the city, but near enough for you to nip back into town and finish your shopping. This little building is aptly named; although renovated beautifully with a rustic, homely feel, it's quite a small place. The Shed homes a few different elements- a cute cafe, a training gym, physiotherapy and beauty treatments.

Upon arrival for my appointment to get a pedicure, Georgie (the resident beauty therapist) met me by the cafe and took me upstairs to the little attic which is the treatment room. With a sofa area to relax and a dimly lit room in which the treatments take place, this is a perfect place to relax. The low ceilings and small rooms don't at all feel cramped; it's cute, cosy and dinky. Georgie is absolutely lovely- so welcoming, warm and chatty but incredibly good at her job. After explaining that I had been put off by dodgy, slap-dash manicures in the past, Georgie assured me that her perfectionism would not see that happen. And it didn't.

The pedicure consisted of a relaxing soak using Green & Spring products before shaping and filing. My cuticles and hard skin were sorted out before a gorgeous lotion was applied and a heavenly foot massage ensued. As I was going on holiday the next day, I chose a bright coral-pink colour to compliment my (barely-there) tan. The polishes they have are Essie and OPI shades, and trust me, there are plenty to choose from, I will be popping back to have a manicure soon as Georgie had an incredible collection of grey/neutral colours that would be perfect for work. Taking about an hour, the pedicure was a wonderful way to relax and prepare myself for my holiday.

There are a range of treatments available, including mani/pedi, waxing, massages, facials and spray tans. The thing which drew me to The Shed the most was their '£10 offer'. A standard manicure, pedicure and St Tropez spray tan are only £10 each, making this an incredible offer for anyone who wants that pamper time without having to worry about whether they can afford it (I'm still on that bloody student budget). It's great to see beauty treatments becoming so accessible, and this cute little location is the perfect place at which to experience some well-deserved relaxation. If you want, you can book yourself an appointment using the contact details here.

(Apologies for the awful photos...the lighting was dim and my camera ran out of battery as soon as I arrived so I had to rely on my crappy phone...#bloggerproblems)

Which treatment do you love going to have? Where do you love going for treatments around Brighton?
