Going Nude With Kiko Nail Lacquers

So, it seems that nude is the new 'colour du jour' in the beauty world and every brand is making the most of this trend. Whilst it may traditionally be seen as boring, it's comeback coincides with a call for classier, more wearable tones which compliments your look rather than making a statement. I don't know about you, but I always feel a bit naked without wearing nail varnish; my beauty look just isn't 'complete' without it. However, sometimes you just don't want to wear a bold pink or classic red and something a little more understated is needed. While many brands have offered their own selection of barely-there colours, I always believe Kiko gives the best range and quality for your money.







Picking these up from the Brighton store a couple of weeks ago, I was amazed at what a vast collection they had. Yes, the bolder colours were still available, but lots of the shades fell within the nude, natural and classic category. Plenty of soft pinks, earthy browns and subtle nudes filled the shelves of Kiko. While I do love red nail varnish, I think these colours are 100x better than what we're used to seeing, and am personally loving this current nude trend. It's so classy, wearable and can finish off any outfit instantly without being too 'in your face'. Sometimes a bit of subtlety is all you need.




The nail varnishes themselves are a perfect consistency (not to thin as to require 1,000 layers, but not too thick that it takes forever to dry). I found two layers was ideal, only using the second to neaten up the primary application. The colours are just gorgeous and could truly be worn for any occasion- I love the shade spectrum they have offered. I got shades 317 (Dark Antique Pink) and 375 (Bois de Rose) which both fall within this classy, natural category but were different enough to justify me buying both. Dark Antique Pink is actually darker than I thought it would be, providing a soft, purple-brown colour, while Bois de Rose gives a gorgeous dusty pink hue- both give a glossy finish. The brushes are pretty standard and application is easy, but I did find the colour chipped quite easily. However, this could be down to me forgetting to apply a top coat, which gives the colour far more longevity...oops.




For £2.50 each, these nail varnishes are an absolute steal. Even if they don't last as long as you would like on your nails, these are fab little varnishes to have and so cheap that you can stock up on a few different colours to swap and change around when they do start chip. As it is their standard nail lacquer (and not any special edition), there are way over 100 shades to choose from so go wild! I'm definitely going to pick up a couple more just because they are so easy to wear on a daily basis and look so classy (not to mention creating the illusion of longer nails).
