Amazing Lipsticks For The Festive Season: Clinique Pop Lip Colour & Primer (Free With Glamour!)

I rarely buy magazines nowadays, but when I saw that Glamour were dishing out free Clinique goodies with the purchase of their December issue I just couldn't resist indulging in the glossy mag. With this issue, you have a choice of four things; a daily moisturiser, mascara or two Pop Lip colours. I've had my eye on Clinique's Pop Lip range since they first launched, and after much umm-ing and ahh-ing, decided not to splash out. Seeing their collaboration with Glamour, then, filled me with much money-saving delight! It turns out I was right to eye up these gorgeous lipsticks as they are an amazing burst of high quality colour.

The cashier must've thought I was strange as I waddled up the the counter with my arms filled with Glamour magazines. The funny looks and the *eye rolls* of seeing Tanya Burr on the front cover were so worth it though. These two shades from the Pop Lip range are great choices for Glamour to include as it covers the two main beauty looks people will be wearing to their Christmas parties; nude and red. Not only are these sleek, boxy lipsticks incredibly cute in their mini versions (who doesn't love a dinky lipstick?!), but they are great quality too. Clinique have created a lightweight formula which is almost velvet-like in texture; it glides onto lips effortlessly, providing just the right amount of sheen to moisturise your pout without venturing into glossy territory. With a built-in primer, Clinique claim that their Pop Lip masterpieces can last up to 8 hours, but I do find that these unfortunately dissipate on my lips quite quickly- the only downside to these majestically saturated bullets of colour.

Nude Pop is definitely the more subtle of the two and is an awesome shade for simple everyday wear. It isn't an obvious shade at all, you barely notice you are wearing anything, but it is one of those products which alludes to the 'your lips but better' motto. By providing a super-subtle sheen, the pink tones make this neutral lipstick a fab option for pairing with a sultry smokey eye. Cherry Pop on the other hand is the total opposite. It is bold, bright and beautiful whilst remaining gorgeously classic. The age-old red lip is one of my favourite beauty looks, and the one I wear most regularly as it requires little more effort than a slick of the red stuff. It's quite a daring tone (more blue than orange and a tad darker than what I usually wear) but I love it nonetheless. Both will be used repeatedly this festive season!

Clinique Pop Lip Colour & Primer lipsticks usually retail at £16, so grabbing these minis for the cost of Glamour magazine (a mere £2) is an amazing bargain. I would snap them up quickly though, as I have a feeling they are going to prove extremely popular. I'm not going to lie, Clinique is the only reason I bought Glamour this month....

What do you think of this Clinique range and these two shades? Have you gotten hold of any amazing magazine freebies this month?

  1. I already had a couple of the full size ones and wanted to pick up nude pop so when I saw the minis with the magazine, I picked one up. I'm going through it pretty quickly having been using it none stop but it will last a while and I think it's a great way to try a shade before you commit to spending the money on it, Em x

  3. Cherry Pop looks beautiful on you, and you're right - so great for the holiday season! When I lived in the UK I used to love the free stuff you get with magazines - unfortunately Canadian magazines don't do that. :(
