Champagne Afternoon Tea: Stoke Place

One of my 19th birthday presents this year was a voucher for champagne afternoon tea at Stoke Place (Bucks) from my nan. The country house has beautiful grounds, so I waited until this summer to use the voucher in hope of sunshine and a lovely post-tea walk.

Despite booking it for the only day of rain amidst weeks of heat and sun, it was an absolutely lovely experience. The rain even cleared up in time for a wander by the lake!

After being seated, we were brought a glass of De Castellane NV champagne. I usually hate champagne but this stuff was delicious! A little while later, a tray of freshly baked scones were brought out along with a pot of clotted cream and homemade jam. At the same time, a tower of mini sandwiches arrived, all of which were lovely.

Once we'd suitably gorged ourselves on these goodies, we each received a pot of our chosen earl grey tea and a selection of divine looking cakes. The mini cake bites were a super rich chocolate brownie, carrot and cinnamon cake, freshly baked shortbread, banana and walnut cake and a berry swiss roll. Needless to say there were none left over!

Waddling out of the house, we walked around Stoke Place's 26 acres of parkland and around the beautiful lake hidden in the woods before playing a giant game of chess. It turned out to be an incredibly beautiful day full of exquisite food.

Stoke Place never disappoints in terms of food, beauty and hospitality. If there's a special occasion coming up and you're based around Buckinghamshire or London (30 minutes from Stoke Place), it's definitely worth booking a table!

Where's your favourite place for afternoon tea?
