Nail Art Gems

Alongside nail stickers, nail wraps and all the different effect nail varnishes now available within the nail art boom, there are nail gems. I always thought this was one of the more tackier versions of nail art, and quite look quite garish, but after trying them out I'm now a converted nail bling lover.

This Show Girl nail art set comes with four different shaped gems; some standard circle, square, oval and heart shaped gem stones. Along with these you get a clear polish and an applicator. After putting on your colour (I used Rimmel's 60 seconds polish in 320 Rapid Ruby) and letting it dry, all you do is sweep on a coat of clear polish, and while it's still wet place the stones where you want them, using a cuticle stick or applicator to get them exactly in place.

When the clear varnish dries, it should keep the gems in place. I just used them on my middle finger nail to create a statement nail. Although these are good for things like going out or other day events, they are definitely not practical for everyday use! I'd be really surprised if someone could get them to last more than 4 hours.

They fall off really easily and leave a horrible mark where they should have been, but I guess this could be a good thing when it comes to removing them.

You can buy nail gems from most places, ranging from make-up brands, Boots and Superdrug to high street shops like New Look and Primark for around £5 or less.
