Clothes Swish for Target TB

On Wednesday evening, a couple of friends and myself headed down to the Queen's Hotel on the seafront in my current hometown Brighton. I was told that the charity Target TB were holding a clothes swish fund-raising event there. I had never heard of a clothes swish before, so for those who had as little a clue as me, it basically works like this: you take some of your unwanted clothes, hand them in when you get there, they lay them all out on the table, and you pick up whatever takes your fancy. A kind-of mix between a clothes-swapping event and a jumble sale.

Although you had to bring a minimum of one item, for obvious reasons, many people used this as an opportunity to have a good clear-out and brought along bags-full of unwanted items. Taking along a few tops, I ended up taking away shoes for my mum, and another pair of shoes and a dress for my nan.

On top of the innovative clothes swish, we were provided with a goody bag on entry, wine, doughnuts, live music and a raffle in which my friend won a spa treatment!

Free doughnuts!

The Brighton-based charity, Target TB, is run by only a small team of six, and provide care for those with tuberculosis in Africa and Asia. Although TB can be easily cured in countries such as Great Britain, those from poverty-stricken communities can't afford to have and aren't provided with the opportunity for this treatment. TargetTB aim to provide support for these communities, improve treatment, provide information and raise awareness in both Asia, Africa and Britain. For such a small team working on such a huge task, they deserve the utmost admiration and support.

It was such an amazing and fun evening, and hopefully the charity raised a lot of money from the event. A big thanks to all those who organised and, on behalf of everyone there, for giving such a warm welcome.
